Contopsa is American Bureau of Shipping certified to repair all types of containers. Our equipment inventory includes state of the art tools and supplies, including foam injection machinery. We also perform inspections and requisite hydraulic testing for tank containers. Our accomplishments have allowed us to become one of the few repair facilities in the world qualified to perform advanced structural stainless steel reefer repairs.

Reefers

At Contopsa, we specialize in handling refrigerated containers. We have a reefer PTI bridge with capacity for 64 simultaneous pre-trips and cleanings. Our specially trained technicians monitor the reefers operating in our depot as well as those waiting departure in the port. We also count on a mobile repair truck that allows us to reach any container at anytime, should the need arise.

Gensets

Perishable and frozen goods transported in refrigerated containers have to be maintained at a constant temperature throughout the entire journey. This means they must have electrical current to operate when not plugged in at the port or warehouse. We possess our own fleet of gensets that we lease especially for this purpose. We keep constant upkeep of our genset fleet and furnish our 3rd party clients with the same high quality maintenance and repair for their gensets as well.

Cleaning

Be it a 40’reefer or a 20’tank container, cleanliness is important for the transport of sensitive goods. Contopsa has special high-pressure steaming equipment that sanitizes the interiors of these containers. We provide our clients with certification that the containers we clean are internationally acceptable for food transport.

Power Packs

Power packs augment electricity and outlets for additional reefer capacity on a ship or at the terminal. At Contopsa, we design and construct our own ocean going and port stationary power packs. Our customers may choose between 44, 36, 28, or 22 plugs, and we use various engine models. We offer power packs for sale or lease and provide the maintenance/repair manuals and trouble shooting guides.

Storage

One of the outstanding features of our company is the vast scale of our depots. We currently have at our disposal, distributed between 5 locations around Chile, over 89,000 m2 allocated to empty container storage. We maintain 24-hour lighted security coverage of our storage facilities.

Transfer Equipment

The placing and positioning of containers and gensets within the terminal, and transferring to/from the depot is carried out by our Contopsa top lifters and yard hustlers. We use a specially designed chassis for genset transportation. Our qualified truck and machine drivers operate quickly and safely to ensure the highest productivity and quality service.

Marine

With the acquisition of our new vessel, Estrella (Lloyd’s Register of Shipping Certified), Contopsa is now available to meet the pilot launch needs of ships calling the port of San Antonio. Our 32-ton pilot boat motors at 17 knots per hour. It has a crew of 3 and can carry up to 7 additional passengers. The Estrella’s services include pilot and passenger transport, draught surveys, and harbor tours.

Second Hand Containers

One container, a world of solutions… Contopsa has pre-owned dry and reefer containers for sale or lease. We sell only quality built second hand containers that can be utilized for a variety of purposes: general storage, import/export, office modules, refrigeration storage, and many more. We can turn a dry container into added office space or transform a normal reefer container into a sliding door freezer storage unit—all per our customer requests. Additionally, we deliver our containers nationalized with all the documentation completed.
